Town Centre Sights & Landmarks

Explore Richmond town centre by strolling through the vast cobbled marketplace with large obelisk in the centre. You may wish to browse local shops or visit local museums (Green Howards and Richmondshire Museums). At the heart of Richmond there is an impressive Richmond Castle which is a must see landmark.

River Swale

River Swale flows past the town centre and offers picturesque views, including series of waterfalls known as ‘Richmond falls’. Enjoy a wonderful woodland river side walk from town centre to National Trust owned Hudswell Woods. Alternatively, walk down from Richmond falls to ‘The Station’- beautiful Victorian Railway building packed with local businesses, art gallery, cinema and café. You can extend your walk along the River Swale past The Station towards impressive ruins of Easby Abbey.
